ABOUT
I’ve always been drawn to making images. It started with a film camera my grandmother gave me when I was young. She was an art teacher and was one of the first people to really encourage me to be creative. A few years later, I was the skate kid who always had a camera with me, filming and photographing my friends, skating, and everything that came along with that culture. I didn’t know it at the time, but that was really where I started learning how to tell stories through images.
That eventually turned into a career. I’ve spent more than 13 years working in commercial production and have had the chance to experience just about every side of it. I started as a still photographer and eventually found my way into video, working as a gaffer, 1st AC, cinematographer, director, and creative director. Today, I’m the Executive Creative Director at TC Shadowlight, where I direct commercial work and help lead creative across film and photography.
Having worked in so many different roles has definitely shaped the way I direct. I care about the idea just as much as the image. I love great lighting, thoughtful composition, interesting camera movement, and all the little details that make something feel considered. But all of those things need to serve the story. My approach changes depending on the project, and I think that’s part of what keeps the work interesting.
Outside of work, I’m still into a lot of the same things I was growing up. Cameras, music, cars, being outside, and spending time with my family. I just have better cameras now.
